IUCLID 5 - Overview


IUCLID stands for International Uniform Chemical Information Database. It is set to be the central tool for registering chemical substances. .

IUCLID 5 is a software solution that will be used by the industry, the European Chemical Agency (ECHA), and the authorities in the EU member states. You will be able to access IUCLID from the ECB at the following address http://www.iuclid.eu .

The database is already used for statutory and voluntary substance check programs in the EU, the U.S., and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Tthe fifth version of IUCLID is available. It is adapted to meet the requirements of REACH and will be managed by the European Chemicals Agency. This system will support REACH and also provide a globally harmonized data format to be used by the regulatory authorities and industry.
IUCLID 5 is the tool that industry can use to store information about chemical substances, create dossiers, and send them to the regulatory authorities.
For the Chemicals Agency and the authorities in the member states, IUCLID 5 is the central database for the submitted dossiers and provides a platform for evaluating, limiting and managing the risks of new substances.
